Dr. Matavao grew up in Hawaii and graduated from Punahou School. She wanted to be a veterinarian from a very young age and one of her grandfathers was also a veterinarian. Some of her favorite memories from childhood include hand-feeding baby birds and fostering kittens.
She attended Colorado State University's Veterinary School and graduated in 2012. She also completed training in veterinary acupuncture while at Colorado State.
Her interests include acupuncture, pain management, geriatric pet care, and hospice. She lives in Mililani with her husband, her children, and two cats. Her heart is still broken from losing her wonderful border collie in 2019, but she hopes her children will want a dog when they are a little bit older.
