Dr Kirk Ayling was born and raised in the islands. He got his start in the veterinary field as an animal assistant on the Windward side. This experience piqued his interest in the animal care profession and showed him the deep bonds pet parents have for their four legged and feathered family members. After graduating from Mid-Pacific Institute, he attended Colorado State University for Animal Science and Wildlife Biology studies.
This began an exciting journey into the world of large animal medicine and surgery. While applying to Veterinary school, he worked for dairy farmers along the front range of the Rockies and returned with some knowledge to manage Meadow Gold Dairy farm in Waimanalo. He attended the Ross University of Veterinary Medicine on the island of Saint Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean. His final year of schooling was at the very busy hospital at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.
Together with his Veterinarian wife, he lived and worked in the Green Mountains, in the New York - Vermont area. That practice involved treating horses, dairy cattle, sheep, goat, llama and alpacas as an ambulatory large animal Veterinarian. After 9 years, and too many winters, it was time to move back home and continue raising the family in the tropical paradise, again on the Windward side.
He has been practicing and participating in animal welfare and client - patient bond strengthening for the past 14 years. As a general practitioner for over 20 years, he is experienced in medicine, surgery, preventative, emergency and dental care for all pets. In his free time, he enjoys surfing, sailing, hiking, biking, diving, and traveling.
